Which Cement Is Better 43 Grade Or 53 Grade?

Which Cement Is Better 43 Grade Or 53 Grade
OPC 53 grade cement has better quality, strength, and less setting time compared to 33 and 43 grades of cement. Due to its high strength, is used for making concrete of higher grade (Above M20). It is the best choice for all houses, buildings, apartments, and high-rise building construction work.

Which cement grade is best for roof?

Best Cement for Roof Slab – Use of OPC 53 grade and PPC ( Portland pozzolana cement ) is the best cement for roof dhalai and for all type of RCC structure like footing, slab, beam and column.

What is the use of 53 grade cement?

53 Grade OPC Cement 53 grade cement means that the compressive strength of the cement after 28 days is 53 N/mm3 when tested.53 grade cement has a fast setting time as compared to 43 grade cement. This grade of cement is not used for ordinary works. It is mostly used for structural purposes as in reinforced cement concrete.53 grade cement is suitable in making concrete mix above m25.

  1. It can also be used in restressed concrete.
  2. The use of OPC 53 grade cement is particularly useful in certain pre-stressed and pre-cast concrete work that consistently require high strength concrete.
  3. This grade of cement ensures strong speedy construction with early removal of formwork, thereby reducing construction costs considerably.

What is difference between 33 43 and 53 grade cement?

Which Cement Is Better 33 Grade or 53 Grade and Why? – The initial strength of 53 grade cement is higher than 33 grade or 43 grade cement. The strength of 53 grades does not increase much after 28 days due to initial strength increases, while 33 grade and 43-grade cement are gaining strength even after 28 days.

Can we use 53 grade cement for house construction?

1.Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC): – There are three grades of OPC available:33 grade,43 grade and 53-grade cement. Cement grade is based on the compression strength (Mpa) of the concrete that will attain after 28 days of setting. Grade 33 refers to the cement attaining compression strength of 33 Mpa in 28 days of setting.

  • This is same for 43 and 53 grades of cement.
  • Grade 33 and 43 were used for construction in the past.
  • As per IS standard code Grade 53 grade of cement is recommended for house construction.53-grade cement can be partially replaced with 20% of fly ash by the weight of cement in the construction site and can be used.

Partial replacement of cement by fly ash not only saves cost but also improves the durability properties of cement due to the pore refinement (achieved by adding fly ash). This also increases workability and increases strength. OPC cement is used for structural elements like beams, columns etc.

Title 43 Grade 53 Grade
Introduction The 43 grade OPC is a popular general-purpose cement in the country today. The 53 Grade OPC cement is higher strength cement used for strength concrete.
Production The production of 43-grade OPC is nearly 50 percent. The production of 53-grade OPC is nearly 40-50 percent.
Setting It sets less quick than OPC 53 cement. It sets very quickly and it has low initial setting times.
IS Code IS 8112 IS 12269
Complete strength at Continues to gain strength after 28th days Early strength gain Ultimate strength gain is the same for both cements.

Uses It is basically used for PCC and RCC works and for the purpose of waterproofing, plastering, tiling, Brick and stone masonry, and Flooring. Also used for the Finishes of bridges, culverts, roads, and water retaining structures. All structures like footing, column, beam, and slab. Precast concrete items such as paving blocks, blocks, railway sleepers, poles, etc.

Why do we use 43 grade cement?

43 Grade Ordinary Portland Cement ( OPC 43 Grade ) – OPC 43 cement shall conform to IS:8112-1989 and the designed strength of 28 days shall be minimum 43 MPa or 430 kg/sqcm. Even though 43 Grade cements’ early strength is less as compared to that of 53 Grade, with time it will attain the same ultimate strength as that of 53 Grade cement.

  1. In the case of 43 Grade cement, the initial setting of cement is slower as compared to 53 Grade cement.
  2. In other words, the hydration process and consequently, the release of heat is moderate and therefore, occurrence of micro cracking is much less and can be easily controlled by proper curing of the concrete / masonry work.

Unless a project requires very high strength cement, the use of 43 Grade OPC is generally recommended in general civil construction work such as residential, commercial and industrial structures. It is used in RCC works, preferably where the grade of concrete is up to M-30.

  • It is also extensively used in the manufacture of pre-cast items such as blocks, pipes, tiles etc., and also in asbestos products such as sheets and pipes.
  • Since OPC 33 has mostly been phased out in the country, OPC 43 is nowadays largely used in plastering, flooring and other non structural applications.

The physical and chemical characteristics of OPC 43 Grade Cement very comfortably meets BIS requirements. Particularly, the compressive strength of Deccan Cement OPC 43 is significantly higher than the standards specified by BIS. OPC 43 Grade Cement is a Consistent high Quality Cement Prepared from the finest raw materials, Suitable for all types of construction works.

General Civil Engineering Construction work All RCC works where grade of Concrete is M20 and Above Pre Cast items such as Block, tiles, pipes, Manholes etc. For Concrete and Non Structural works such as Plastering, Flooring and Masonry works like Brickwork, Block-works.

Benefits

in Compliance with IS:8112-2013 Suitable for all Types of Construction Works Preferable for M20 & above Grade of Concrete High Compressive Strength Less Micro Cracking.

Application

General Civil engineering Construction work. RCC works Preferably for M20 & above Grade Concrete Pre Cast items Such as Blocks, Tiles, Pipes, manholes Etc. For Concrete and Non Structural works such as Plastering, flooring and Masonry works like Brickworks, Blockworks.

Which cement is more powerful?

53 Grade Ordinary Portland Cement The cement is used in RCC and pre-stressed concrete of higher grades, cement grouts, and instant plugging mortars.53-grade cement has stronger adhesive bonding than the other 33 and 43-grade ones. It has a higher compressive strength.

Why do we use 43 grade cement?

43 grade cement means that the compressive strength of the cement after 28 days is 43 N/mm3 when tested. This grade of cement is used for plain concrete work and plastering works. It is suitable to make concrete mix up to M30.43 grade cement is also used to make precast items, such as tiles, blocks, pipes, etc. It can be used where setting time is not a necessary concern.
